Tehran: The attacks on Iran by America and Israel entered the sixth day on Wednesday. The situation regarding war is worsening day by day. Attacks on Iran from America and Israel are continuing. At the same time, retaliatory action is also going on from Iran’s side. US Defense Secretary Peter Hegseth announced that a US submarine sank an Iranian frigate IRIS Dena near Sri Lanka. Of the 180 sailors on board, 32 were rescued and the bodies of 87 were recovered, while many are still missing. Meanwhile, big news came that the US Senate voted and rejected the War Powers Resolution brought with the aim of limiting President Trump’s military action ‘Operation Epic Fury’ against Iran. There were explosions in the capital of Iran on Wednesday. Israel targeted Iranian leadership and security forces. Iran responded with missile attacks and drone attacks on Israel and the entire region. According to Iran’s state television, the explosions in Tehran occurred early in the morning. The Israeli military said that its air defense was activated to stop Iranian missiles targeting Israel and the sound of explosions was heard around Jerusalem. With Iran tightening controls on tanker movement through the Strait of Hormuz, Brent crude prices rose to more than USD 82 per barrel, more than 13% since the start of the fighting and the highest price since July 2024. Global stock markets fell sharply on concerns that rising oil prices would impact the world economy and lower corporate profits. Along with this, there were drone attacks on the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia and the US Consulate in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday and the US State Department said on Wednesday that it has given permission to non-emergency government employees to evacuate the capital. US Navy Admiral Brad Cooper, head of the US Central Command, said that Iran has so far launched more than 500 ballistic missiles and 2,000 drones. US President Donald Trump has already hinted at dragging out the war. During this period, about 1040 people have died in Iran. There are some among them about whom Trump had said that they could be the future leaders of the country. Israel said on Wednesday that it is carrying out several attacks targeting Iranian security forces in Tehran.
Spain rejects America’s claim for military cooperation
The diplomatic spat between the US and Spain over the war in Iran escalated on Wednesday, when the two governments made contrasting statements over the possible use of a Spanish military base by US troops for operations in the Middle East. Shortly after a White House spokesman said in Madrid that the Spanish government had agreed to help the US, Spain’s Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares came forward and flatly denied that the European government had changed its stand. “I can prove (the White House spokesperson) wrong,” Alberes told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser. The Spanish government’s stand regarding the war in the Middle East, the bombing of Iran and the use of our bases has not changed at all. This disagreement started on Tuesday when Trump said that he was going to stop all trade with Spain. A day earlier, Alberes had said that his government would not allow the US to use the jointly operated base in southern Spain in any strike that is not covered by the UN Charter. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that his government will not be involved in anything bad for the world.'(AP)
