Kabul: Pakistani Air Force attacked a religious seminary in Barmal district of Paktika province of Afghanistan. Tolo News quoted sources. According to Tolo News, Pakistani jets also carried out several air strikes in Khogyani district of Nangarhar province.
Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid posted on Twitter on Sunday that Pakistan bombed our civilians in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces. At least 20 people including women and children were injured in this.
According to Tolo News report, Pakistan launched several attacks in Paktika’s Barmal and Argun as well as Nangarhar’s Khogyani, Bahsod and Ghani Khel districts since Saturday. Pakistani media source also confirmed the Islamabad airstrike. He told that these attacks were carried out focusing on the alleged terrorist camps on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Geo News, citing Pakistan’s Information Ministry, said that the attacks targeted seven camps and bases of Fitnah Al Khawarij (FAK), its affiliates and Daesh Khorasan Province (DKP). It was also claimed that this action was taken in a correct and precise manner in response to the recent suicide attacks in Islamabad, Bajaur and Bannu during Ramadan.
According to Geo News report, the ministry alleged that the suicide bombings were carried out at the behest of Afghanistan’s leadership and handlers and responsibility for it was taken by people associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Daesh.
Despite Islamabad’s claim that it has repeatedly appealed to the Afghan Taliban to stop the terrorist group from using Afghan territory, Pakistan itself has been facing international scrutiny for providing safe haven and logistical support to various terrorist organizations operating in the region for a long time.
In its statement, Pakistan said that it hopes that the interim Afghan government will fulfill its responsibilities and prevent its land from being used against Pakistan.
It also asked the international community to put pressure on the Afghan authorities to fulfill the promises made under the Doha Agreement. According to Dawn, Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Thursday said that Pakistan reserves the right to target Afghanistan to save the lives of its citizens amid increasing cross-border tension following a deadly attack in Bajaur.
According to Dawn, Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said in the weekly media briefing, ‘Pakistan completely demands that Afghan territory should not be used for terrorism inside Pakistan. Therefore, till this demand is not met, keep patience and all options will remain open.
